Global Citizenship!

Hi everyone! Well, Club Penguin isn't done with spreading cheer, even though Christmas is nearly over. They've come up with many ways to help people in need- all year long, not just Coins for Change in December! The Global Citizenship page has been updated.
globe.jpgHere's everything you need to know about it!

What is the Global Citizenship program?
Global Citizenship is the program in which Club Penguin partners with other companies and programs to help families all over the world to live happier, healthier lives. They help areas in need- from food, to education, to the environment.

What places is Global Citizenship helping?
In Africa: Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, and Uganda
In Asia: Afghanistan, China, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia
In Europe: Georgia and the United Kingdom
In North America: Canada, Haiti, and the United States
In South America: Ecuador

In what ways can Global Citizenship help countries?
Global Citizenship helps build classrooms for schools, resource centers for communities, libraries, cleaner water systems and latrines, community gardens, hospitals, and more! It also teaches kids about Internet safety, public speaking, and leadership programs. Another way it helps is by raising and donating some of the site-raised money for campaigns and foundations that support good causes.

What are Global Citizenship Teams and what do they do?
Global Citizenship Teams consist of Club Penguin employees who join many charitable volunteer programs. They go "planting trees, taking impoverished kids to the movies... recycling, [and] carpooling."

Which companies does Global Citizenship partner with?
The New Horizon Foundation
(ridding the world of poverty by improving the lives of families around the world);
Free the Children
(helping educate kids everywhere);
The Horn of Africa (improving health, welfare, and women's antipoverty projects in Ethiopia); War Child (helping improve the lives of war-affected children);
Partners in Health
(bringing health-care centers to impoverished areas);
Wildlife Conservation Network (protecting endangered species of animals and their habitats);
Rare (protecting endangered species of animals, the environment, and people that live near them.)

How can I be a part of Global Citizenship and make a difference?
There is the Think WE! Speaking Tour, where elementary school students see "dynamic speakers [that] will inspire you and your friends with their passion for social change."

There is also the Kids Matching Gift Program, where "your school [can] help a village in one of the world’s poorest regions." Club Penguin will help by "matching the funds you raise up to $5,000"! (Send information requests to )

How can I add to Global Citizenship?

Send your ideas, suggestions, and comments to Club Penguin HERE. Then check the Global Citizenship page to see if your ideas were posted!

New Homepage and Start Screen

Hi everyone! Well, the island has been totally revamped for Halloween. These updates were actually from yesterday, but I was so busy with the Halloween Party itself that I had no time to post them! Here they are:

The homepage is now spooky, dark, and...well... Halloween-y!
There is also a new start screen. It's spooky, but funny, because it looks like these penguins are heading out to Trick-Or-Treat!
Speaking of Trick-Or-Treating, are you going Trick-Or-Treating on Club Penguin? What are you dressed as? I'm going to all my friends' houses for candy, so all of you penguins watch out! ;D I'm going to be dressed as the Santabug my friends helped pick for me :)

Catching Up!

Hey everyone! We are back and blogging, and we missed out on some pretty big things like the new play, the new Snow and Sports catalog sneak peek, and some interviews with Happy77, a Club Penguin Community Blogger.

1. There's a new Stage play! It's called Underwater Adventure, and in my opinion, it's not that bad. The costumes are great, but the script is a bit strange.

2. There's a sneak peek for the new sports catalog! Here it is:

3. Two new interviews with Happy77!
The first one is about the new Snow and Sports catalog!

How often do you make a new Snow & Sport catalog?
Four times a year. We started to put the months on the front of the catalog so you'll see when the next issue is coming!

If there was a candy-eating sport, would any of you make the finals? What sort of outfit would you make for that?
We'd eat our weight in candy and more! In fact, here's a sketch we just created that we think would be awesome to wear if there were a candy eating sport (We know there's no candy eating sport. This outfit is not in the catalog - it's just for fun!).

LOL! Here is the just-for-fun outfit they created for the candy-eating sport:

The second interview is about the new play, Underwater Adventure!

What inspired you about doing the costumes?
For one of them, a delicious meal I once had was the inspiration... Mmm...so tasty...

Tell us something cool about the set!
There's an entire sea castle to climb in! And a secret shadowy sea creature in the distance.

For this play, are there treats underwater?
Well, chocolate bars tend to get a little soggy, and cotton candy is a mess...we could have tried sea salt taffy - but I'm pretty sure we didn't.

Well, that's all! Be sure to check out the new newspaper!

Ciao for now!

The Splatter Wins!

Hey everyone! Well, most of you know there was a poll deciding which shirt would be in the August Penguin Style clothing catalog.

The choices were the Moondrop, the Tux-T, or the Splatter.

64% of the penguins voted for the Splatter, which won!
21% of the penguins voted for the Tux-T.
16% of the penguins voted for the Moondrop. Personally, the Moondrop was my second favorite after the Splatter!

Ciao for now!

Ruby and the Ruby Re-Run

Pick - A- Pin!

Hi everyone! Club Penguin is letting us pick a summer pin! The choices are a sunflower, an umbrella, or a bucket of sand. All very summery things!

My personal favorites are the sunflower and the umbrella. I can't decide which one to chose... any ideas?

Penguin Play Awards Update!

Hey penguins! Guess what? Billybob revealed some new things about the Penguin Play Awards!It's really pretty awesome, as it's just THIS Friday!
Penguins will be able to dress up, walk the red carpet, and vote for our favorite stage plays in different categories. The Club Penguin team has a list of Club Penguin's top five favorite stage plays.
Members will also have access to the INSIDE of the Stage, where there will be a few extra surprises! (Oooh, wonder what those could be?)
The Penguin Play Awards will go from March 20 to April 9. Billybob also says, "I don't want to give everything away yet, but the team's really excited because this event is mostly about giving you the chance to be creative with all the special things you'll find in and around the Stage."
That sounds really exciting...I bet the Penguin Play Awards are gonna be awesome!

Mission Writer Interview!

Remember the new Club Penguin blog writer, Happy77? Well, she finally got another interview! Here's the whole thing straight from the CP blog.

Who is your fave mission character and why?
Herbert. Because he reminds me a lot of myself.

herbCutout.jpgWhat's the coolest thing about making up mission stories?
There's no such thing as an idea that's too crazy.

Perhaps most importantly, what's your favorite kind of candy?
Anything with peanut butter in it.

That last question was weird. Anyway, Happy77 says to post new ideas in the comments! Well, I read the ideas in the comments, and here are the best ones!

"What if the packet of seeds was for hot peppers, and Herbert was trying to grow peppers to make into hot sauce. Then he could gather up black puffles from all over the island. Because when you give them o-berries they light on fire and fly around, when you give them o-berries with hot sauce they fly higher and farther. Then he could try to heat up the island." - Moofin Man

"i want herbert to go to the dojo and try to get sensei to teach him card-jitsu,and when he doesn't we pelt him with snowballs and water balloons and hot sauce!" - waycoolio

"Anyway, my idea for a mission is to maybe introduce a new character? Perhaps Herbert could rewire Rookie's spy phone and use it to teleport back to his original home, and find some friends/family to help him with his 'evil plans'." - Snowberry135

Aren't those plans all awesome? I think they are really creative. I think a cool idea could involve ninjas, penguin bloggers, and loads of pie!

Also, remember how Billybob said a new penguin named Happy77 would post on the CP Community Blog? Well, she posted! :D

Here's an exerpt from Happy77's post:
"I'm so stoked to say hi. ...Since Billybob announced I'd be writing blogs I know some of you have asked about me. Among other stuff, I do some writing for Club Penguin, love to play Mancala, and I've been told I'm a bit curious... "

And, finally: Remember the Coin Code contest? I haven't forgotten about that, mind you! So far the only two people who have entered are Flippy0102 and Pinkguin 246. The code will be given out sometime ON Christmas, or AFTER Christmas.

New Community Bloggers!

Well, I have some good news! Club Penguin's community blog is getting an update! There will be new bloggers posting on it. Cool! Here's an excerpt from the latest Club Penguin blog post:
  • Screenhog - He has a lot of knowledge and is excited to share some behind the scenes stuff about game, mission and art development.
  • Happy77 - She's kept a low profile for a while and she's really excited to talk to you more regularly. She's going to take us behind the scenes too, but in a different way than Screenhog. Happy77 is going to chat with different developers on the team. She'd love to hear ideas about people and projects you'd be interested in knowing more about!
Doesn't it look like is will be awesome? I really want Happy77 to post, because I've never seen a post by her before! :D
